So....I Graduated from Medical School!

I'm just getting my magic back. It's been a wild 5 years. I graduated from medical school in June with my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (N.D) and my Masters of Science in Acupuncture (MsA). In some ways, it feels like just the other day when I started this blog in January 2012, then started medical school later that year.

Immediately after graduating, there were a ton of different changes and shifts, and on top of that I had to go into study mode IMMEDIATELY to take my N.D licensing exams in August. Then after that, I went on a really quick family trip, then packed up my life from Seattle back to New York. I literally came back to NY a few weeks ago.

I finally felt ready to write this post, 3 months after graduating, because....*drumroll*, I just found out on Saturday, that I passed my medical board exam, which allows me to have my Naturopathic medical license. Forms have been filled and applications have been sent out, and my licenses are pending. And my only job for the month of September has been to rest and rejuvenate, to gear up for the next phase.

I'm excited to be on the other side of this all, reconnecting to my vision and purpose, but with so much more knowledge and so much more awareness and love of self. I still hold all of the original intentions and visions- working with communities who need it most, implementing a holistic point of view to health and healing, a strong intersection with the arts and social justice, and of course- finding a way to work in Haiti with Haitians and the Haitian diaspora.

Here are some very tangible ideas that I'm working on:

  • community workshops , starting in NY first (highly highly highly requested by you all in NY, Boston, Haiti and Canada)
  • free 10 minute introduction consultations via phone or skype, so you can get to know me more and what I plan to offer in my practice.
  • web-based product formulations involving, but not limited to: herbal tinctures, tea formulas, flower essences, etc. (highly requested and already begun)
  • online-based personalized Q&A's with a fee including, but not limited to: general nutrition and herbal guides, more in depth and personalized clarification questions about herbs and products mentioned on this blog and in my social media (highly requested)
  • mobile acupuncture offerings, meaning notifying you all when I'll be in your city, for personalized one-on-one holistic healing treatments, AND weekend community acupuncture sessions in NY (highly requested)
  • collaborations with like-minded healers, activists, educators, and organizers
And it should go without saying, I will be posting much more frequently on this blog again, like I was in the beginning of the year, now that I am all moved back to NY and settled, and finished with all of my licensing exams!

Let me know what you think of all of this! As usual, I would love to hear from you.

I thought it fitting to write this blog post to give you all this important update since you have been with me since the very beginning. We did it!

In health.
Stay engaged,
N
