5 Year Anniversary of Naika in Balance!

Ayibobo friends!

I wanted to say thank you so much for all of your support! This blog wouldn't be what it is today without your support, encouragement, and engagement!

Five years ago, I started this blog as a means of self-expression and self-exploration.

I was 22, ripe, and curious.

This blog soon evolved into a space dedicated to wellness, through the arts, through community and through holistic healing.

I developed my most successful article series "Haitian Treasures", where I shared information about the ways we Haitians of Haiti and the diaspora use plant medicine for healing.

I also developed my artistic voice- sharing poems, short stories, etc.

You were with me as I made the biggest decision of my life- changing my course from going to conventional medical school to choosing Naturopathic medical school instead, to further my knowledge of holistic medicine.

We've journeyed to over 10 countries, for pleasure, but also for global health work.

You have even walked me through the most painful experience I have ever had- losing my father at 23, during my first year in medical school.

You stayed with me, and checked on me, during my 18 month hiatus from the blog, when I was so engulfed in school that I couldn't find time to work through my writer's block.

And you were here when I came back!

We've connected on the phone, through email, and on social media.

I can now call several of you my friends (in real life!) and colleagues (doing the work).

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Thank you for listening, for engaging, for sharing.

It has been the trip of a lifetime, and it is just the beginning!

I promise, the acceleration is going to be breath-taking. It's already begun.

[I promise I'm in the process of making my first YOUTUBE- yes YOUTUBE video. If you follow me on instagram, you know that I recently bought a professional video camera just for this reason :) ]

More to come!

As usual....
Stay engaged,
N
